This morning, I also did my recipe development for the Flavor Mavens blog. Look for my tasty lentil veggie spaghetti recipe tomorrow. I was sort of ahead of schedule with everything I wanted to do, so I took a little breather and closed my eyes for a few minutes. Oops! Rome wasn't built in a day...
I got out for my engaging with life this afternoon. I packed up the laptop and went down to Java Cabana, our kitschy cool little Cooper-Young coffee shop, for a soy cappuccino and vegan cookie (must work on reducing caffeine and sugar one of these days) while writing up my recipe post for tomorrow. There was a huge pile of college kids from Iowa there who were touring Memphis. They picked a great time to be here. It was another beautiful warm sunny day today. It was fun to 'work' at the coffee shop and chat a little with a new friend, Emma, who works there. She was super busy, but she is so sweet and always takes time for a little conversation.
Engaging with life and our city will be easy for the next few days since our friends are visiting Thursday through Monday. Tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day and our friends are from Ireland and Scotland, so there may be a few drinks flowing. Good thing we live 1/2 block from The Celtic Crossing, the best Irish pub in Memphis. The owner is an Irish guy who loves footie (soccer to you Americans), so Simon is getting to know him well. We will show our friends our new hometown, maybe some tourist spots, live music, who knows? FUN WILL BE HAD! This much I know. I will share on my blog when I can.
Please pray for my liver over a long St. Patty's Day weekend with the Irish and Brits!
I didn't take any interesting pictures today, so I am sharing a few from when we were touring with Simon's Mum earlier this month. These two are from Chucalissa Indian Village, a site with ancient ceremonial mounds and what was a thriving Native American village along the Mississippi River. Mum was learning about it and wanted to see it, only 20 minutes outside of Memphis. Very interesting site.
And of course, a few GRACELAND pictures to begin and end today's blog post.
As I briefly mentioned in yesterday's post, I really believe my plans to engage more with life will break up some stagnant energy. We need to get some energy flowing to release our house in Michigan, to become thriving members of our new hometown of Memphis, and for the right opportunity to come along for me to get out there and maybe start a whole new career. I was thinking today that I am only 43, I could start a new career and easily work another 20-30 years, especially if it is work that I love and really feeds my soul.
Those are some of my intentions. Looking forward to seeing how things shift in my life. Glad to have you join me on my journey friends.
